Avid fans of artery damage, Naoya and I headed to the corndog-o-rama festival last weekend. A misread citysearch guide and $34 entry fee landed us at nathan's hot dog eating contest in the Atlanta zoo instead. (2 separate hot dog events in one weekend?) What struck me when I entered the tent was the line up of contestants. There were about 15 large, sweating men in overalls, ketchup and mustard smeared all over their shirts, and in the middle, this small woman, probably in her late 60's, wearing a hot pink t-shirt and shoving frankfurters, double fisted, into her mouth. The crowd was going crazy screaming "gramma" like a pack of 5 year olds lost in a K-mart. In the end, gramma put the others to shame by consuming 23 hotdogs, (closest anyone came to her was 17) The best part came at the end when she pulled out a tube of hot pink lipstick, applied it expertly and then accepted her trophy – a true southern gem.

Party at Phreaks

I must have a thing for Leo's because 3 of my friends had birthdays this month. One such party was at the Grossology exhibit at the Fernbank Museum. I learned all about farts and burps and snot- and it was, well... gross.
